Mukul Madhav Foundation was introduced to an interesting team of doctors from England through our Managing Trustee, Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria. This team is headed by Dr. Sanjiv Nichani, an Indian doctor based in the U.K wanting to give back to society. He is the founder member of Healing Little Hearts, a registered charity set up in the UK. The objective of this organisation is to carry out free paediatric heart surgeries in and around India. The team specializes in operating on underweight children suffering with congenital heart disease.
Mukul Madhav Foundation organised for this team to visit Ruby Hall, Pune to carry out heart surgeries for underprivileged children and those who may not be able to afford such expensive treatments. The team came to India on the 15th of March, 2014 for a week and carried out seven heart surgeries on children and one on an adult. Four of these patients have been discharged and the remaining four are recovering.
In addition to this, these doctors along with our team visited Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital to scale the possibilities of a similar tie-up with them. These doctors would be visiting Pune on a quarterly basis to perform additional surgeries and to follow-up on previous cases.
