Leprosy in India is not much spoken about these days. However, statistics published by Asia News reveals that India tops the world, in 2014, in new cases of Leprosy. Thus, the struggle to eradicate Leprosy out of India is still on.
Taking this movement forward, Finolex Pipes, through its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation joined hands with Dr. Bandorawalla Government Leprosy Hospital in their fight not just to eradicate Leprosy, but also to support those suffering from Leprosy by helping them live a life with dignity.
Dr. Bandorawalla Leprosy Hospital, Pune is a 350 bedded hospital providing, preventive, curative, referral and rehabilitative services to Leprosy Patients under single roof. This is the only state owned hospital providing comprehensive health care to Leprosy patients.
Dr. Bandorawalla Leprosy Hospital approached Mukul Madhav Foundation to support their mission by donating Micro Cellular Rubber Foot Wears (special footwear made for Leprosy patients), Prostheses (artificial device that replaces a missing body part), Fixed Ankle Break Walker (device that supports ankle movements), and Plastazote Shoes (special shoes for artificial limbs). Mukul Madhav Foundation donated Rs. 1, 48,000 to make the above mentioned necessities available.
On 3rd February, 2015, Mr. Sameer Godse of Finolex Pipes and Mr. Jitendra Jadhav from Mukul Madhav Foundation visited Dr. Bandorawalla Leprosy Hospital and made the donations.
Mukul Madhav Foundation thanks Finolex Pipes for their continuous support and looks forward to support many such organizations working at the grass root level to make the difference.
