Mukul Madhav Foundation hosted a fundraising gala dinner on Saturday, 5th April, 2014 at J.W. Marriott, Pune, to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation, India (MAW).
Make-A-Wish Foundation originated in the United States in 1980. The Indian affiliate was established in 1996 and is dedicated to granting the most cherished wish of children between the ages of 3 to 18 years, living with life-threatening illnesses, irrespective of their socio-economic status, caste, race or religion.
Board of Trustee of MAW, Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria, was introduced to this foundation through the various charitable activities carried out under the umbrella of her charitable trust, Mukul Madhav Foundation.
Both these foundations focus on working with children; MMF focuses on providing healthcare services to underprivileged children and MAW works towards spreading hope, strength and joy in the lives of children suffering with life threatening illnesses.
The event saw several corporate and individual donors who raised funds through purchasing passes for dinner tables and participating in an auction sponsored by Gulf Oil Ltd. and Eros International. Other sponsors for the event included Mumbai based jeweller, Nirav Modi, as the Gold Sponsor, multinational conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, and from the banking sector, IndusInd Bank and Union Bank of India, all as the Silver Sponsors for the event.
Guests were treated to an evening of wine and cheese, a variety of Indian and International cuisines, and entertainment from Indian comedian and actor, Vir Das, and a fusion cum classical dance performance by the New Shakuntalam Centre of Art & Culture, Mumbai.
The highlight of the evening was when Naved Jafri, star of the reality dance show, Boogie Woogie, carried out the wish granting ceremony of 15 year old Yash Lunkad, whose wish was to have an Android mobile phone.
Mr. Deepak Bhatia, CEO, and Mr. Uday Joshi, Founder & Managing Trustee of Make-A-Wish, India, were both present at the event and showed their gratitude to Mukul Madhav Foundation for hosting this unique charity dinner in Pune.
Trustee of Mukul Madhav Foundation, Ms. Gayatri Chhabria, presented the vote of thanks and left the audience with a touching thought, “Just as little drops of water together make the ocean, so too little acts of kindness and compassion can and will make a difference”.
