Apart from continuing our monthly donations of wheelchairs and commodes, MMF organized an event on the 4th of March 2016, to announce our further plans to help these children with Cerebral Palsy in Satara. The event witnessed the presence of Shri. Ashwin Mudgal, Collector of Satara, Shri. Nitin Patil, Chief Executive Officer, Satara, Shri. Sham Deshpande, Additional Commissioner of Pune Division, Shri. Dilip Mane, District Health Officer, Sou. Punita Gurav, Education Officer, Shri. Farrokh Cooper, Managing Director, Cooper Corporation Pvt. Ltd, Dr. Purvez Grant of Ruby Hal Clinic and Sou. Bharati Patil of K.E.M. Hospital, Pune, among others. MMF received a “Samman Patra” from the Zila Parishad for the outstanding work we have begun there for these children.
As a next step, we decided to set up a tele-rehabilitation facility in Satara, so that the parents and local physiotherapists working with these children can take guidance from experts here in Pune at any time required. Here we would like to thank Dr. Purvez Grant, who has generously given MMF a room at his diagnostic centre in Satara to set up this facility.
On the 23rd and 24th of March 2016, MMF along with 20 doctors from Sancheti Hospital, Pune, 2 doctors from H. V. Desai Eye Hospital and a neuro surgeon, conducted a 2 day assessment camp, to screen 133 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy from the ‘talukas’ of Wai, Mahableshwar, Satara, Karad & Koregaon. We received tremendous support from the Zila Parishad team of mobile teachers, block education officers and coordinators, who helped in bringing these children to the camp locations and provide venues at 3 ‘talukas’ to set up the camp. We are very thankful to Mr. Nitin Patil, CEO of Satara, who has been constantly supporting our initiative. We are in the process of consolidating all data now and will chalk out a plan for the proper rehabilitation program required for each child.
