On 8th March 2014, to mark International Women’s Day, Mukul Madhav Foundation, along with our CSR partner, Finolex Industries Limited, created a facility for cancer treatment for women at Chirayu Hospital, Ratnagiri, by donating mammography and colposcopy machinery. These cancer tests can help detect this life threatening disease at an early stage and is to be done at a regular interval for women above the age of 35 years. Initially, women from Ratnagiri had to travel to Mumbai or Kolhapur for these tests, which made this not only a costly, but also a time consuming affair.
Over the last 4 months, approximately 500 women have availed the above facility and as the numbers are increasing exponentially, we decided to move the centre closer to Ratnagiri city to make it easily accessible for all. Hence, on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, we carried out the inauguration ceremony at Parkar Hospital, Ratnagiri.
The services at this Well Being Clinic are being provided at a subsidised cost as a part of Finolex’s CSR. Besides online consultation, renowned oncologist, Dr. C.B. Koppiker of Prashanti Cancer Care Mission will be travelling to Ratnagiri every 6-8 weeks to provide his guidance and support to the patients and the team at Parkar Hospital.
