In continuation with MMF’s Mission CP (from Disability to Ability), FIL/MMF organised a CME (Continuous Medical Education) on CP (Cerebral Palsy) on 2nd September 2018 in Ratnagiri. Renowned doctors from Pune – Dr. Sandeep Patwardhan, Orthopaedic Paediatric Surgeon (Sancheti Hospital), Dr. Reema Nagpal, Neonatologist (Sassoon General Hospital), Dr. Leena Shrivastatav, Developmental Padeatrician and Neurologist (Bharati Hospital) Dr. Abhijeet Botre, Neurologist (KEM Hospital), Dr. Nilesh Kurwale, Neuro Surgeon (Deenanath Hospital), Dr. Saloni Raje – Neuro Physiotherapist , Sancheti Hospital and motivational speaker Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani who is a CP patient, all addressed the CME.
The main objective of the CME was to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and on time referral to the concerned specialists, which would help to avoid further medical complications. Other topics covered and discussed were the developmental issues in CP, neurological management of spastic children, surgical options and the ways in which the IMA and the local Government agencies in Ratnagiri can help treat CP patients.
The lightening of the lamp was done at the hands of Mr. Sunil Chavan, District Collector and Dr. Pravin Munde, SP- Ratnagiri. Apart from the 150 doctors, Dr. Aniruddha Athalye, District Health Officer ( Ratnagiri), Dr. Parag Pathare, President (IMA Ratnagiri), Dr. Toral Shinde,Vice President,( IMA Ratnagiri), Deputy CS Dr. Phule, Dr.Alimiya Parkar, Parkar Hospital, Mr. Sanjay Math ,MD Finolex Industries Ltd and MMF representatives were present. MBBS Doctors, Physiotherapists and General Practitioners attended the CME.
The CME was a great success, all the doctors expressed their desire to help by creating awareness in CP. The Government officials have also promised to provide the necessary support to set up the assessment camps and provide transportation for CP patients. FIL/ MMF will continue to work for CP patients in rural Maharashtra through various rehabilitation centres and aims to establish more centres in the future.
