On the 29th and 30th of April 2016, the team of MMF along with 26 doctors including Orthopedicians, physiotherapists and an orthoptist from Sancheti Hospital headed by Dr. Sandeep Patwardhan, a team of speech therapists, ENT and Developmental Pediatrician Dr. Leena Srivastava from Bharati Hospital, 4 optometrists from H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, Dr. Abhijit Botre, Pediatric Neurologist and Dr. D. P. Jha, Occupational therapist from K.E.M. Hospital and Dr. Sandeep Patil, Pediatric Neurologist and Dr. Nilesh Kurwale, Neuro Surgeon from Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, screened 135 children from the ‘talukas’ of Phaltan, Dahivadi, Khatao, Shirval and Medha. We have received great support from the team of mobile teachers, local coordinators and our team of Finolex representatives, without which we could not have pulled this camp off so smoothly. We are now in the process of consolidating all data and will begin contacting parents to receive consents and then proceed with further treatments.

From our last assessment camp, we have identified 8 children with epilepsy, who are in need of surgeries which may help them get cured of this condition completely. Dr. Nilesh Kurwale from Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has offered to help do these surgeries for extremely subsidized costs under their newly opened Centre for Comprehensive Care for Epilepsy. We have also identified 25 children in need of further investigations such as XRAY’s/MRI’s, for which we have tied up with Ruby Health Care Services, at Satara & Karad, where these children can do these investigations at half the prices.

We have continued our process of donations of wheelchairs and commodes and have so far completed 97 wheelchairs & 71 commodes, to benefit 105 children so far.
