A Light in His Eyes

Hope generally blooms in unlikely places. In the narrow lanes of a modest village, young Mokshit was born into silence. On 26 December 2018, his arrival was anything but joyous. Severe complications had already weakened his mother. The baby didn’t cry, a sign that something was terribly wrong. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, vision and hearing impairments, and unable to speak, Mokshit’s first years were marked by despair.
His parents, still mourning the loss of a daughter and two miscarriages, found themselves clinging to hope. Living below the poverty line, with his father working at a saree shop and his mother devoted full-time to caregiving. The family carried the weight of uncertainty with no one to guide them through this. Mokshit could neither hold up his head nor sit. His world remained confined to a bed or his mother’s arms.
Sense India, a healthcare NGO’s Sparsh Programme, came to their aid. For the first time, there was a plan. Mokshit had access to structured therapy, expert intervention, and training for his mother to support his growth at home. He began to show signs of progress. He gained neck control, sat with support, expressed joy at colourful light balls, and smiled brightest around his grandfather. His fondness for sweets and playful expressions revealed a spirited child within, one the world had never met.
Mokshit is making progress. His parents now believe he will one day walk, play, and learn like other children. They are thankful to Sense India. According to them, it is the best NGO in India because it has given their son a real chance. What once felt like an impossible journey is now filled with hope.
