Celebrating the Spirit of Citizenship, Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya, Ratnagiri added a feather to the school cap by bagging the coveted Desh Apnayen 2017-18 award initiated by the Sahayog Foundation Mumbai, for the second consecutive year. Ms Ashwini Joshi was awarded with the Champion Teacher Award while 9 students were felicitated with the certificates for their contribution.
Desh Apnayen is a movement to inculcate civic responsibilities and promotes Citizenship Education, Volunteerism and Neighbourliness.
The school religiously followed the ideologies and brought in to practice the basic concept Apathy to ownership: From being” indifferent” to “Accepting the country as your Own” into practice.
The students of the Desh Apnayen Citizenship council along with the other students participated in various community based activities and shouldered their civic responsibilities. The students who were empowered in various ways, developed the sense of Ownership and accountability to the nation. The activities like Distribution of Rakhis to the soldiers at the Siachen Glacier and Coast Guards, Ratnagiri, Ek Mutthi Anaaj Ki ( Distribution of the grains to the needy and the destitute), Distribution of Diyas to the Fire fighters, RTO and police department, Distribution of Paper bags to the say no to practice, Warding off the Superstition, Cleanliness drives, celebrating the Constitution Day with a difference, Print of Togetherness- India of My Dream, promotion of Traditional Warli art, Drawing Patriotic Rangolis and many more spoke volumes about students contribution to the society and development of patriotic feeling among them.
The students responded to the clarion raised by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and created a wonderful nukkad natika depicting the issue of pollution caused by the crackers and thus said no to the crackers in their unique way. The students exhibited their leadership qualities and approach to Volunteerism and dispensed their duties related to discipline, conflict and traffic management regularly.
The award was handed over by the Desh Apnayen team headed by Mr Nikhil Mhatre, Mr Vyankatesh and Mr. Narayan in a sober ceremony held at the School. The Desh Apnayen team of School has conveyed their gratitude to the School Management and Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria for her continuous support and guidance.
