Mukul Madhav Foundation started computer classes for the women of the Gramin Mahila Vikas Kendra at Phansop, Ratnagiri and mothers of the students at Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya. The course began in July 2013, in our school premises at Ratnagiri and is being offered at a subsidized cost. The school's computer teacher is conducting these classes in which women are being taught basic computer operations and Microsoft Office.
We also organized a 'handicraft workshop' for the women of the Gramin Mahila Vikas Kendra, in an attempt to provide rural women with an opportunity to maximize their income generation potential.
We have been actively running the tailoring classes since 2008. A six-month certified course from Community polytechnic under Government Polytechnic, Ratnagiri is taught to 25 women per batch. Till date over 400 women have benefitted from these classes. Clothes sewn are donated to expectant mothers in the Government Hospitals of Ratnagiri.
Mukul Madhav Foundation and Finolex Industries Ltd inaugurated skill development centres in 2 remote villages of Masar and Abhor, in Gujarat, on the 15th of September 2016. These centres provide a 3-month certification course in computer and tailoring, for both women and students of the village, at extremely subsidized rates. This course is taught by trained professionals hired by Finolex Industries from a local NGO, Shree Charitable Trust, Baroda. This program aims to empower at least 20 women in each course, at each centre.
